Me, My Physics Teacher and Lots of Gifts

Christmas is now officially over in Spain. The Three Wise Men as we know them brought a lot of gifts to my house, and I woke up with many many great gifts, here are some:

As you can see, besides a polished coconut where I once drank vodka, there is a lot of stuff for improving my watercolor, and origami paper to make dinosaurs (45 steps to make a Tyrannosaurus is not fair). Anyway, I also got my first book about dream interpretation, and whereas I don't really believe in much of what it says (none of my dreams match it); I thought I might make an update about this. My friend Hotei was featured in this post, where a kitten appears. According to my book, this is what cats mean in a dream:

"Cats can have both positive and negative attributes , depending on your association with them and  the surrounding circumstances in the  dream.  Cats can mean prosperity or quick and agile recuperation. They can also represent independence, the feminine, or sexual prowess. Kittens can mean new ideas, and if you dream of a kitten in a basement it might signify ideas arising from unconscious mind. Additionally, since cats can see well in the dark, they can signify an ability to find illumination in an obscured situation. Dreaming  of cats isn’t always positive, however: they might symbolize evil or bad luck, or a catty or cunning person".

I also looked for what having a teacher in your dream might mean, but nothing appeared. In this dream, my High School physics teacher and me have some transcendental conversation on the prices of groceries and then get on our shopping carts down a red slide -something that appears quite fun to me-. My physics teacher was one of those people that, for some reason have an ability to stay in your mind for their personality, or for something they say, or do.

Physics teacher {to the class}: Are you happy, kids?!
Class: Nooo, we have exam tomorrow!!!
Physics teacher {changing to a serious tone}: Yes, but are you happy?

  1. I once had a college teacher who desperately portrayed herself to be this adventure loving, against-all-odds beating, well educated and chill person. I feared her, and because I feared her, I thought I had to admire her. Over time I realized who she really was ... a person who fought to fit in, told stories and exaggerated bits and pieces of herself, who spent more time trying to get people to think she was cool (it fooled me) than actually teaching, and I disliked her for it. Somehow, since I've taken her class, I've always checked myself and my own mousy ego whenever I think of her.

    1. Sometimes what we consider "bad role models" can help us identify what we don't want to be, while good role models act as guides to what we want to become..you made a great point, thanks for commenting!

  2. Yes, my Speech Teacher in high school. She was just the neatest lady in the whole world. From the way she dressed, taught and acted.
I often speak highly of this woman. She gave me an A+ in that class!

    1. Wow, no wonder you have her in a high concept! But yeah, there are just some wonderful teachers out there :)

funnily enough it was a physics teacher too! she had such a charm and such a charisma a kind of gravity that was left imprinted in my memories...

    1. Haha no, and I looked for it! Oh, those physics teachers...eccentric but charming at the same time! They are indeed adorable creatures, lol!

  4. Hey Andre, I loved the drawing! and my inspiration was my Math Teacher. We saw each other a lot. Mostly cos I invariably ended up in the teacher's lounge for snoring in his class. oh those numbers - they never sank into my head!
weirdly, I did dream about him once or twice too!

    1. Thanks Nina! Haha, seriously, snoring? I was really bad at maths too...I remember having nightmares with my math teacher and dreaming about the homework I had...terrible, terrible!

  5. I love meeting people who change my perspective or give me inspiration in a brief moment - even if I never meet them again. I met an old man on a bus once that inspired me like that.

Btw I have tagged you for the Liebster award for up and coming bloggers, I'd love to see what your responses are! http://gladley.blogspot.com/2013/01/liebster-glad.html

(ps don't be afraid to make your drawings bigger, they are a fantastic part of your blog).

    1. Totally agree, public transportation is a great source of brief encounters with extraordinary people!

About the Liebster, thank you SO much :) I have been away on a trip so I couldn't work on the Liebster post until now, but you'll read my answers tomorrow! (hopefully)

Thanks about what you said about the drawings, I had been wondering about how big they should be, but thought making them bigger would be pretentious! I might make them bigger then.

  6. I admire you for remembering all your dreams so vividly. I usually forget them, except for some nightmares!
I love that you were getting on that slide with your shopping carts (appears quite fun to me too), and the drawing is great!
Without actually knowing my English teacher from 10th grade has made a big impression in my life. He was my favourite teacher and he always tried to encourage me to talk and to share my opinion on everything (I was rather shy back then). He was also the one who made me read English books in the first place and that's how began discovering my love for English, or languages in general. I guess I should thank him some day! :)

    1. English was always my favorite class, it was the only one I felt comfortable with at participating because I knew I was good at it -I was also a really shy kid in class-. My English teacher was the typical tough guy with only one favorite pupil, and that was me!

Thanks about the comment about the drawing, these comments really encourage me to keep trying to improve! Also, I have to say I have always tried hard to remember my dreams, the more you try, the better you get!

  7. Ooo are you going to try to decifer each dream now? Yep it's a bit of a long story but basically I was fuming one day when a man with special needs came up to me and put his hand on my shoulder as in to say it's ok... somehow he managed to calm me down so quickly and without fear on his part so he's pretty much inspired me in life along with a few others to be a better person

    1. That's a big responsibility! But yeah, I might try to use that as a dream-o-pedia! And that's interesting...I guess sometimes we need someone to slap us in the face to slow us down and take it all easy. I'm glad you didn't get slapped, though; just touched gently in the shoulder xD

    2. Lol I have previously tried to decipher dreams and some have come to fairly humorous conclusions so it would be good to see how accurate your book's take on things will be :-) On the being slapped in the face front I've previously had that happen alot that's why I grew to be such a beautiful person... OMG I think we've discovered why women like bad boys so much... being slapped so much makes them more beautiful (please note I am not one of those men as I am a gentle soul with some weirdness)

  8. Interesting, I used to dream about my cat all the time. She used to scare me, lol. I never knew they had some kind of symbolic meaning in our dreams.

    1. According to some theories, some elements have indeed a lot of meaning and deciphering it might help us get to know what we think deep down in our subconscious! There is also a big part of randomness, in my opinion :) Thanks for the comment, Susana!
